The summer tradition of Akita
One of the three great festivals in Tohoku, the Akita Kanto Festival has a long history spanning over 270 years, and has been registered as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. The 10,000 lanterns, symbolizing ears of rice, light up the night sky, bringing awe to those to see it.
